Resume writing has become a very important thing in our society, especially for Jobseekers and recruiters. Resume writing plays a very important role for both the parties.

In Resume, one can highlight experience, career goals, activities and special skills one is having. Resume preparation plays a key role in a job search. It is quite important that resume of job seeker should stand out from others in the crowd and force potential recruiters to have a second look, as recruiters want to select the best candidate for the job

Key area of QA Resume Preparation or Different Sections of the QA tester Resume

  • Personal Information
  • Career objective
  • Education Qualification
  • Skills
  • Project Experience
  • Hobbies, Career interests, and achievements
  • Other Personal information like marital status, Passport details etc. which is sometimes required by Recruiter.

Impressive QA tester resume increases the chances of hiring as it impresses the hiring managers on the first shot. Maximum recruiters take hardly 10-20 second for looking and selecting the testing resume as resumes are available in bulk on online job portals.

So, it is important to prepare an eye-catching resume which will ultimately lead to QA resume selection for a job interview.

Tips to make your QA Resume Impressive

  • Pay attention to the needs of your employer. One is required to go through the requirement of the recruiters carefully. Prepare the list of skills you are having, which matches the requirement of the recruiters to get the job and place it in your QA tester resume and highlight it.
  • Write Full details of the Project in Project Experience section in the following order
    • Name of the Project
    • Name of the Client
    • Description of the project (Brief summary in 2-3 lines)
    • Location
    • Environment (Coding Language, Tools, Tool Scripting knowledge)
    • Size of the team
    • Job Accomplishment (Mention all your responsibilities in the project)
  • Try to showcase all your QA roles & responsibilities on the first page.
  • Put your work experience, educational details on the second page.
  • If a job seeker is not having any experience, then it is advisable for him/her to work on dummy projects to get some insight on how things are working.
  • Give some real life example to showcase your problem-solving capabilities.
  • Place clear job objective at the top of the QA resume. It would be better if job objective is short and precise.
  • Use consistent Font type and Font size.
  • Place the most important information first in context with what the recruiters require. Suppose a recruiter spends one minute time to look at the QA tester resume. Recruiters check whether the QA resume matches the requirement for the job and makes a decision accordingly to call the candidate for the job. First, the half page of the resume is very crucial, so it is important to pack it with a lot of punch.
  • Use a professional email address. Lots of professionals use the nonprofessional email address on a QA resume which is not a good practice. Use something like first name and last name and at max one or two alphabets with it. The email address should look professional. One should refrain from using an email address which looks weird.
  • Swap paragraphs with bullet points.
  • Place references within your QA resume. Job seekers should put the name, telephone number job type, and designation which may be business or official.
  • No use of slangs in the QA tester resume.
  • Proofread your QA resume. What is meant by this is that one should go through resume carefully and if possible get it reviewed by someone else, so as to find out any mistake? If any.
  • Do not use pictures in your resume. Keep your testing resume as simple as possible.
  • Do not place false information on your resume. One should keep the things in a testing resume which a candidate should be able to answer in the interview.
  • Keep your resume simple and use good printers.
  • Swap paragraphs with bullets.
  • Experience should be mentioned in chronological order for each category with most recent being on the top.
  • Avoid preformatted QA tester resume of others at all cost. Customize it as per your need.
  • Place your name, email address and phone number on the top part of the testing resume.
  • Avoid unnecessary personal details that are not relevant from a career point of view.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes in your QA resume as it will immediately put a bad impression on the recruiter, thus reducing your chance for the call for an interview.

Overall we can say that QA Resume writing is very important as it improves QA resume presentation, which in turn plays a very important role during QA resume search and interview.

It is the QA resume which gives a presentation of your skill and technical caliber before the interviewer.

No matter how much knowledge and experience one is having, but there are high chances of lagging behind if the QA resume is unable to present that, before the interviewer and get shortlisted for the interview.
